Virginia Harriet Lane was born on August 8, 1955 to Kight &
Harriet Lane. She was premature, and spent the next 20 days in an
incubator, not given Mother's milk according to the “wisdom”
of the time. This left Virginia often not well throughout her life.
But she conquered Hepatitis C when it came calling after a scary
bout. She conquered MCS/EI after battling with it for years, and she
held Cancer at bay for over 10 years after that.
Virginia grew up in Texas, all over Texas as her family moved a
lot within the state. Virginia was the most loyal person I have ever
known. I am privileged to have had her as both wife and friend. She
completed an IQ test for a score in the Genius range, even higher
than my own.
Before we met, Virginia saved enough money working as a librarian
to purchase a brand new car, paying cash to order exactly what she
wanted. Years later after that car wore out, I bought her a Mazda
Miata, and she always joked that she felt grand in her “Barbie
Sports Car”. Then when we went on the road she was willing to
give it up for Tracker, her “Barbie Jeep”
After Virginia and I met, we were married in a matter of months on
May 25, 1986. She then took on Alaska, and totally out of her element
helped me to forge a workable household in pioneer style, and a
functional Computer Consulting company simultaneously.
Virginia helped me build several companies. She never let on how
much she hated doing accounting work, but she was so good at it that
several tax auditors bosses had to reprimand their employees over the
years for taking her on. When my last company obtained Venture
Capital, an she retired, it took 6 people to replace her. Virginia
was an accomplished Student of the Bible, Painter, Writer, Editor,
Public Speaker, Poet and Minister. She was published and recognized
in professional circles for each area. She also could read music and
play piano.
Virginia held a Masters Degree in Library Science, and spoke both
English and French fluently. She could also get along in Spanish and
German. Virginia loved cats, and loved to read. Virginia was also an
accomplished party host, event planner and cook. She always insisted
on feeding me well.
We will all miss Virginia's ever smiling face and helping hand. I
will definitely miss her friendship and Love that I had the privilege
of having in my life 24 hours every day for over 20 years.
Virginia, I look forward to seeing you again, with the pain and
disease that killed you forgotten. I'll love you forever.
Your Husband
