CHURCH DOS AND DON'TS
For a number of years, we have visited different churches.
A few things have struck us as extremely good. Others as things
we would not recommend. We have put these "lists" in this file as an
aid or give ideas to anyone interested in church management.
Positive Comments
Cowboy Church, Colorado Springs, CO: A church
where the majority of the people are interested in the Western Tradition
Lifestyle (horses, cattle, etc.) as a hobby or business can attend.
Fountain of Life, Aurora, CO: The congregation
was encouraged to recognize and meet the new faces in the crowd and integrate
them into the church family by introducing them to others of like interests.
Living Hope Covenant Church, Colorado Springs, CO: After church,
the pastor had a feedback session. In this people could share questions
and concerns they had about the sermon.
New Life Church, Colorado Springs, CO:
Pastor Ted Haggard made one feel like they are a part of something bigger.
He is involved in all sorts of things and reports back.
Pleasant Valley Church, Thomaston, GA: Members are encouraged
to give testimonies of how God is working in their lives or prophesies that
would encourage the congregation.
Negative Comments
Pastors should be careful not use Praise God, Amen and
Hallalujah as filler words. These are appropriate on occasion but one
of these words should not be used in every other sentence.
Two churches we visited had no greeters at either the outside doors or the
sanctuary doors. It was confusing as to where one should go.
