Updates for 2006Q4 appear below with the latest information at the top.

We've been having cold weather for several weeks.  It has been somewhat warmer, getting up to the high 30s the last few days.  However, the sun doesn't always come out so it's been pretty chilly.  Some days have been rainy.  The sun did come out today so I did a load of laundry.  I'll need to do underwear before the end of the week.

Monday, December  25, 2006, 11:35am
Greetings on this holiday.  Hope all is going well for you and your family.  That you are having the the chance to be with them.  I called and talked to some of them yesterday on Sunday while the cell phone minutes were free; then talked to others this morning.

I know it has been a log time since I posted.  Apparently I could what's been going around.  I ended up with sore back muscles and have hardly been able to get around.  My upper back quick hurting and then I started having lower back pain.  This has been pretty bad.  Also the tumor I have had some heavy bleeding.  I'm feeling much better now but have been tired.  I'm beginning to feel better and am slowly getting some things done.  However, I'm sleeping more than usual.

I'll try to come up with things to tell you about what has been happening.

It looks like Mark may change to the night shift.  He says he's never done that before plus it would give him some daytime hours to do some other things.  It seems like so many places here in Bend are open only during weekday business hours.  The boss said he'd talk about it with Mark on Thursday.  Guess we'll find out something tomorrow.

Monday, December 4, 2006, 5:15am
Talked to brother Chris.  He said Pamela's illness wasn't short but has gone into her lungs so she is coughing a lot and still feeling very bad.  He asked me to call back to check about Thursday.  I'm sorry she isn't doing well.

During the course of the day, I misplaced my telephone.  When Mark got home we rang it. Finally figured out it had fallen inside the shredder.  Good thing I hadn't taken that out to the trash today.

Sunday, December 3, 2006, 4:13pm

This afternoon I went down to Safeway and Nature's Health Food Store.  Was surprised when she gave me the senior discount without asking.  I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.  I also went by the library.  Hadn't planned to do that but Friday I received an email notice that a book I'd ordered from ILL has come in.  It's a large book so will take a while to read it.

I'm working on our next newsletter.  Should have already gotten it out.  However, things don't always happen as desired.  I'm working on a review to which I'll be referring in the newsletter.

It's a little warmer today.  The neighbors are all out doing "chores."  Dale across the street is putting a skirting around their 5th wheel.  Now he's building stairs since he realized that he needs to push the ones that are part of the RV underneath if he's going to totally enclose the bottom.  Al and Don next door are outlining their 5th wheel with lights.  More people seem to be decorating this year.

Wednesday, November 29, 2006, 1:15pm
Got a phone call last night from Chris that Pamela is sick, apparently with the flu that is going around.  He wanted to let me know since I'd planned on doing laundry over there this week.  Jan Mathers says I can come to her house any time I want.  I just haven't done that much since it's not visiting relatives and is on the north end of town.

If I were still part of the Planning Team, I'd be at a meeting right now.  I'm enjoying being home today.

Monday, November 27, 2006, 12:36pm
Brr, it's a cold day.  We've awakened the last few mornings with a of snow on the ground. It has melted off quickly.  However, today it hasn't warmed up much; I expect it will be really cold tonight (which was the forecast for last night/this morning.  It makes it hard to warm up inside the Bus when it stays cold outside.  The sun has finally come out so that should help a little.

For the past week, I've been suffering from another muscle attack.  It targeted an area below my left shoulder blade for the first couple of days.  Then things began popping so it's been moving around.  Yesterday my chest just below my shoulders were hurting; today it's different places in my back.  So I am feeling a little better.  This has been a hard month for me.  I've been having difficulty holding down food.  I am interested in eating but many meals come back up after a few hours.  I've been trying to eat smaller amounts so I don't have anything left to regurgitate.  Because of this erratic digestion, I have lost weight.  I like that but my energy has decreased, probably because I'm not getting enough nutrients.  The last few days have been better.  This morning I felt much more energetic.

I received a call the other day from the Senior Center asking that the step counts for the week to be turned in today.  Between feeling sore, the holiday and Mark's days off...my count isn't as high as usual.  Wednesday, we are invited to a end of program activity.

Thursday, November 23, 2006, 12:23pm
Happy Thanksgiving!!  I hope you have a beautiful day!

We're going to spend the evening with Linda and Allen Miles.  They've invited their family and some friends over.  The timing fits well since Mark has to work that day. I volunteered to take cranberry sauce and cornbread.

I just got back from the Community Lunch sponsored by the Salvation Army and the Trinity Episcopal Church.  They steered people to seats and then assorted people appeared to offer beverages, plates, desserts, etc.  The plates weren't overly heaped (which was plenty for me) but they allowed seconds.

Friday, November 17, 2006, 4:15pm

Maybe my roast would have been a success if I'd thought to check the meat thermometer.  I turned it on low and then forgot about it.  Oops.  It wasn't a crisp but was more well-done than I'd planned.

The window repair people came.  Now they tell us that blue film does exist so maybe we could have ordered it some place and arranged for it to be put on.  When I called, I had understood that blue wasn't available anywhere.  It will be nice to have a window with clear glass rather than crinkled glass being held up by clear packing tape.

I had a conversation with Cheryl this afternoon.  She wasn't to be sure she understood the wrap-up following a meeting.  Before she has to move on to thinking about the next one.  She was also worrying about finding a Special Feature for the January meeting.  I tried to encourage her about that.  I'd given her one idea I had.  Also suggested that she talk to Barbara Douglas who is the wife of the Village Missions pastor in Tumalo.  She's been a chair in the past and I think she told me that she has a Feature presentation that she worked up.  I thought she might be able to give Cheryl some suggestions.

Friday, November 17, 2006, 7:23pm
Thought I would say hello this morning.  This is one of Mark's days off.  He's got a conference call this morning.  The window repair man is coming late this afternoon. I bought a small roast that was on sale.  I'm going to try baking it rather than making a pot roast.  My mother used to make lovely roasts in the oven but I've never figured out how to do it and should have asked her before she died. We'll keep busy today, I'm sure.

Yesterday was laundry and grocery shopping day.  Pamela was already out when I arrived at 9:25am which was a surprise.  Chris was busy so I actually was able to talk to him for only a few minutes.  They are going to Salem to visit her sister for Thanksgiving.

Mark says the snow at the mountain is still there.  It had started raining on Wednesday so everyone was a little worried that it might melt the snow.  We guess they are opening today on schedule.  Today is a special fundraiser today.  Ticket proceeds will go to the school district.  Tomorrow is the regular opening day.  Mark says he's just as happy not being there since it will be busy.

Wednesday, November 15, 2006, 2:35pm
Just got home from CWC and the library.  Mark decided it was time for him to read the DaVinci Code.  I checked that out plus Inside My Heart by Robin McGraw.  That book has become popular; at least I've heard people talking about it and saw it at Costco.  Figured I might as well read something while it's on the Best Seller List.  Usually I'm lagging in my ready by a few years.  I didn't check out anything else because I still have books from previous trips to the library.  I'm reading Dale Carnagie again.  Something I've been wanting to do again.

The November CWC meeting went well.  The only thing I was asked to do was reading the introductions of the speakers.  Cheryl did a good job for a first time.  Pat announced my leaving.  Basically she said that I'd made a commitment through October and as long as I was still in the area, she knew I would come when I can.  I had told her I'm not planning to be at the December meeting but I am going to take future months one at a time.  When I opened the goodbye care they gave me, it included a $50 visa gift card.  That was really exciting and unexpected.  I feel very honored that the Planning Team cared about me that much.  I hope it wasn't out of any sense of obligation.  A gift certainly wasn't expected but is appreciated.

I think the way it was announced kind of confused people but I didn't say anything but just thanked everyone for their friendship and prayers.  The problem is that I didn't have a good reason for leaving.  At least not that I felt like I wanted to say to the large group.  I mostly needed to get out from under the stress of running an organization.  It's been fun but a lot of work.

Sunday, November 12, 2006, 3:28pm
Just took the trash out--saw the first snowflakes of the year!!  They've had snow on the mountain but none in town.  Mt. Bachelor is still hoping to open on the 17th.  A lot more snow will have to come down to make that possible.  They had a couple of weeks ago that melted off the snow that had already come.  If it snows tonight, I really will have to locate my warm weather gear for walking tomorrow.  I've been holding off wearing my heavy gloves and my muffler has disappeared.  I've been doing a major cleaning on the bedroom so I can find stuff.  I have a corner where I throw things and it seems to swallow things.

Yesterday we went to a 39th anniversary party.  Pat and Ed Abernathy had the opportunity to go to Eagle Crest Resort for a week.  They celebrated their anniversary day together but decided to have an Open House yesterday afternoon.  Pat was worried that she didn't have "manly" snacks.  I offered to make Rice Krispie Treats.  That's become one of my specialties.  They were scarfed up.  I'd only saved a couple to put into Mark's lunch today.  I think he's hoping I'll make some more.

Mark had met a couple of the men before at other activities plus he's always willing to talk to people.  Naturally I knew a good many of the people there since many were connected with Stonecroft.  Cheryl came out.  She's getting better every day but this surgery will take some recovery time.  I will call her tomorrow to see where she is at on preparations for the CWC meeting on Wednesday.  Announcements, the order of the meeting and how to give out the doorprizes are things need doing. The invitation for next month is always the big thing.  I decided I wouldn't ask if she has gotten that done yet; I had sent a file with everything but the final information and any rearranging that needs done.  So there's not a lot to do--but doing anything for the first time always expands the needed time.

They insisted on praying over people.  Pat said some nice things about the work I've done with CWC this past year.  I was very stressful but I have to admit that the planning team has been more enthusiastic and they've begun to volunteer to do things that are out of their comfort zone.  And the women that come to the meeting have loosened up.

Snow is continuing to come down so things are getting serious out there.  I'm glad Mark has his heavy coat and hat.  He'll call me if he needs me but it's not too bad at this point.

Friday, November 10, 2006, 5:00pm

Mark put a block heater into the motor this afternoon.  He said it didn't turn out to be as hard a job as he expected and didn't lose too much fluid.

Yesterday evening I went to a meeting of the Bend Christian Writers.  I'd gone to a couple of meetings last year but could don't both BCW and CWC.  A small group came this time, meeting at one of the local restaurants in the back room.  It's not a private room but most of the time midweek, they don't have many guests that need to spill over into the back.  They elected officers for this next year.  I declined a position.  Then we did a couple of brief writing exercises.  The theme was poetry.  Then we read any poetry that we'd brought with us.  I read the poems that I wrote in Alaska to enter the KHAR contest.

Wednesday, November 8, 2006, 5:57pm

I had the followup on my tooth done today.  The dentist decided not to exray it yet as we wouldn't be seeing much change.  The gum was looking good and the hole where the root was taken out is healing over.  Dr. Timm said it actually looked better than he expected it to look.

Mark came home.  They start winter hours this weekend.  He's been given Friday and Saturday off and will work Sunday through Thursday.  He's been wishing that he had a business day during which to be home.  I am glad that he doesn't have his days off in the middle of the week.  It still gives a weekend day off.  I don't think I ever told you the compliment that Mark received.  He had a one year review the other day.  The boss told him that the only thing he could think of to say that Mark was "too perfect."  It was sort of a joke because what he fixes doesn't break again quickly.  But at the same time, he said that the equipment is expected to run and be patched together for a certain number of hours before they retire them--so they don't have to fix it like it has to work for 10 years.

I haven't heard how the Prayer Connection went today.  My guess is attendance was low. Patty is out of town and Cheryl still isn't feeling up to par after her surgery.  (It makes me appreciate how quickly I recovered when I had the hysterectomy despite having been so near death.  Of course, what Cheryl had was a totally different type of surgery.  But I can still be appreciative.)  I just hope she'll be able to get the December CWC invitation done. I've made sure she has all the information.

I spent the day cleaning out some of the drawers/cabinets in the bedroom.  My goal is to eventually get all the stuff out of my corner and put away somewhere.  My "stuff" has overflowed into my wheelwell.  So much that I can't get into my lower cabinet.  I'm a lot closer to doing that than I was at 9 o'clock this morning.

Tuesday, November 7, 2006, 6:12pm

Laundry day.  What more can I say?

One knows one is getting used to a town when one goes shopping and sees people one knows.  The lady who was our Special Feature in September was at Fred Meyer. We had a nice chat.  Mark and I have seen people other places we've been.  When Jan and I go to Costco, we usually see someone she knows; once it was someone we both knew.

Friday, November 3, 2006, 9:48am

Time is flying.  It's been a productive day so far.  My jaw is feeling good--so far so good.  I've had to take very little pain medication.  I'm made several phone calls, etc.  It's drizzly out so I hope to stay home and clean up my desk.

I walked over to the Senior Center, joined a group that was walking toward the Butte and turned off about halfway where I could connect with a street going west toward home.  That was a little over three miles and I'll get more "steps" in as the day progresses.  The Senior Center program is concerned with getting people to walk more so are measuring steps and increasing the amount weekly.  I'm not worrying about the amounts but at the same time, it does make one aware of how much or little one is moving.

We've been having rain drizzles.  It is expected to continue through the weekend and maybe into next week.

Thursday, November 2, 2006, 3:50pm

I just finished putting together a "mexican" casserole for Mark's dinner.  I had the root extraction this morning so I will need to be careful about what I eat.  I had yogurt earlier.  It this casserole seems mushy enough, I'll eat a few bites.  It hasn't been very painful but I need to be careful because I have a hole in my gum.

I don't mind skimping on the calories today.  Yesterday, Cheryl Freese, our new CWC chair had us out to her house.  She's home from surgery--wanted to be part of our meeting but wasn't up to driving anywhere.  Her parents, Bea and Art, made the ladies a wonderful lunch.  Salad with an abundance of toppings, vegetable soup, cheese enchiladas and chicken stuffed croissants.  My gustatory equipment was moaning with pleasure the whole time.

Our meeting went well.  Despite her weakened condition, Cheryl was able to Chair the meeting.  I only had to chime in when needed to give detail she didn't know.  Patty volunteered to deliver invitations to some of the places I've been going that are really important (like the library).  I'm hoping from her example that some of the others will consider the places they go and if they could drop off invitations.

This morning was 35 degrees and is 52 this afternoon.  It seems pretty balmy.  I thought about meeting Mark on his way home but it's clouding up like it will rain.  I hope so.  Also, Mark is trying to stop by the office down here because his time card isn't doing well when he tried to run it through the machine.  Also, he wanted to ask about the ski passes for this year.

Another set of neighbors moved out yesterday afternoon.  Apparently October/November is the time that RVers are on the move since that's two that have gone out this week and another arrived a couple of days ago.

Wednesday, November 1, 2006, 9:15am
I'm printing out stuff for our CWC Planning Team meeting today.  Kind of my last activity.  Our house showed 17 degrees yesterday morning although the official was indeed eleven.  This morning we had 19.  It's supposed to warm up by the end of the week.

We didn't have any Trick or Treaters last night.  Bart who sometimes has his daughter pulled out on Sunday (moved to Terrebonne); she's the only child that we know of in the Park.  I understand the neighborhoods were really into Halloween this year.  Although the cold temps were a discouragement.

You may remember that we broke a window last year at East Lake.  We've put off having it fixed since it's "there," just shattered.  However, it's be better if we don't go through another winter with it like this.  Plus it makes us nervous when we drive Bussie because the window could crumble any minute.  Fortunately, the B & D glass still had the quote from last year with all the details.  They're ordering the glass.  When it arrives, then they'll make arrangements for the install man to come out.  It's nice that we don't have to go there since they only work on week days.

Monday, October 30, 2006, 9:07am
Mark just called that temps for tomorrow may dip as low as 11 degrees.  Wow!  We were at 26 this morning.  Winter has arrived with a vengeance!  We were commenting yesterday how beautiful it was been.  The deciduous (sp?) trees have turned colors which is pretty with the evergreens for backdrops.

I realize I'm way behind on posting to this journal.  Saturday afternoon we to help one of the other Mt. Bachelor employees move.  Jenni was supposed to move a week ago but got the flu.  The volunteers dwindled because of the date change so it was the two of us and Jenni and her mother.  Jenni was pleased when she found out Mark had a lot more muscle than she was expecting from a little guy.  I gave out about 5:00pm and went home.  Mark and Jenni went back for one more load.   They were moving the appliances and some furniture.  She was moving from her mother's house so there wasn't a deadline.

Mostly we lazed around yesterday.  Watched a movie we'd rented.  I haven't had much energy lately.  This week I hope I can get back to house cleaning.

Wednesday, October 25, 2006, 3:36pm

This has been a "busy" day for our CWC ladies, including me.  I had a dental appointment this morning.  It looks like I'm going to have to have the front root taken from my tooth after all.  It sounds like a yucky procedure.  But I could see further deterioration underneath in the root area.  so that's the next step.  I made an appointment for next week.

Cheryl was to have her surgery in Portland today and Esther is going to court to protest a ticket she recently got.  I'm praying that both those things go well.

Yesterday evening we went to visit the Mt. Bachelor employee in the hospital.  He was in good spirits although tired.  Since he asked to not have details given out, I won't say any more.

I talked to our park manager this afternoon to let her know that someone hasn't been picking up after their dog in the grassy strip behind spaces 4 and 5 which is next to us.  I thought the first "pile" could have been an oversight but now we are up to three.  I may have to go out to clean it up.  We walk through that section frequently since we've been parking on the street behind us instead of at the end of the RV park.  Unfortunately all once can do is keep an eye out for dog walkers.  We'd suspect it would be some of the newcomers since it has only been happening a week or so.

I'm hoping to do some picture painting.  Mark noticed a paint set at Costco so suggested I buy it. I have canvases but my paints are buried somewhere in the truck--plus they are aging. We'll be having warm afternoon so I can go outside if I want.  I took a picture of Horse Butte earlier this summer.  Would like to paint that.

I'm hoping my crock pot meal will be done by the time Mark gets home.  I should have gotten it started earlier.  Took chicken out of the freezer and put in a few other things.  Baked some cookies too; managed to overcook both pans.  They are still edible.

Tuesday, October 24, 2006, 3:13pm

I kept waking up wondering what time it was.  Mark finally looked--apparently I didn't set the alarm last night.  I set mine because I liked getting up earlier than Mark does.  Fortunately, it was still early enough that we could hustle, do his lunch  and breakfast, and get him out the door and his normal time to walk.  We also could have jumped in the car if necessary.

I stacked up errands to do so was gone most of the day.  I had library books due so going by the library was a must.  Since I was downtown, I walked the length of Wall Street to put out CWC invitations.  This is the last month that I will do it.  I have a file that I'll give to Cheryl listing the locations where we really need to put out invitations.

Yesterday I left a message at Celebration Community Church.  I've been leaving invitations there for a number of months but no one has ever listed them on the welcome card (it asks where one heard of the meeting).  Pastor Debbie told me that several ladies have indeed been there at least once and one lady has been attending the Redmond group.  I was happy to hear that some of the ladies have checked us out.

Monday, October 23, 2006, 1:23pm
The weather has been so wonderful.  Coolish like fall but still warm enough.  It's supposed to get below freezing this week.  I went for a long walk this morning.  It was one of those days when a person would have liked to have stayed outside "to play" rather than come inside.

Mark came home Friday with the news that there had been an accident at the mountain.  They were splicing some cables to ready the chair lifts for the season.  Mark's part of the department hasn't been involved in the project so he wasn't as the scene but does know the people who were hurt.   http://www.ktvz.com/story.cfm?nav=news&storyID=17049
is the link to the story on the local television website.

Jan Mathers called a little while ago.  She's planning a Costco trip this week so wanted to know if I wished to go.  So we plan to go tomorrow.

Saturday, October 21, 2006 5:49am

Isn't it so typical to wake up early on the weekend when one could sleep later.  We did go to bed early as neither of us had slept well the night before.  While I was gone to Washington, I had taped the pilot episode of 20 Good Years.  It was about as expected as a modern sitcom.  There were some laughs but it certainly isn't what I'd call a family show.

All Seasons RV and Marine is having a RV show over at the baseball stadium across the street.  Trying to sell off their extra inventory.  I wondered over yesterday afternoon.  I only found one RV that had a desk area; that was a 40 foot Coach.  While they were beautiful, it also made me appreciate what I have in Bussie.  I was surprised that more didn't have the hookups for washing machines.  That's one of the things I miss.  However, one of my neighbors told me there all in one units are small and the clothes wrinkle badly unless you really do wash only a few items.  I always question how much electricity they use.  As it is, I have to be careful about running appliances all at the same time.

It's been a good week.  I did laundry on Thursday.  Yesterday Esther Louth who is in charge of telephoning and reservations for CWC invited me over for lunch.  She served beef stew. That was nice to visit with her for a couple of hours.

Our CWC fundraising auction was this past Wednesday.  We came out with $970.25 so several women threw some more money in the pot to make it come to $1000.25.  I didn't say anything but I'm not into adjustments like that.  Seems artificial to me.  However, other than that, the day was a big success.  While I was in Washington, they'd taken the donations and put them together into fancily wrapped baskets.  Plus there were items that we single items.  I bid on some red and white beaded dangly earrings which I got for $2.00.  I have some that are similar but other colors so was glad to add these to my collection as fun earrings.  I also bought a grab bag which had cuffless socks.  Certainly something I can use.

The oil lamp Pamela had donated brought one of the top prices.  So I was pleased about that.  I hope everyone was a pleased with their purchases as I am with mine.

We introduced Cheryl as the new chair but didn't mention my stepping down.  Pat wanted to leave that to next month.  Which means I have to go next month.  I'd been debating about that.  At least I'm getting to wind down with the things I'm having to do.  Cheryl is having surgery next week which is kind of making a kink in my plans to fade out.  I told Cheryl I'd send off the PSAs for November to the media while I'm going through my media list to send to her.  I've pared down what I do to minimal because I haven't been able to do major publicity along with the other duties I've been doing.  I also will put out the invitations on my walks as usual.  But I've told them that this is the end.

I'm standing firm about not doing stuff that has to do with the December meeting.  I repeated again to Pat that I wasn't doing the December invitation.  She thinks Cheryl is going to be able to do it.  I hope so since Nov. 15 when we have our next meeting.

Tuesday, October 17, 2006, 4:45pm

This morning I looked over at the wall clock and discovered the minute hand wasn't on it.  I just located the parts on the floor.  Apparently the little end came off so the hand was able to pop off.  I'm glad that was an easy fix.

I'm trying to get to walking again.  I did walk some during my trip but I need to do the several mile thing.  As it is getting colder, I expect the leaves to be turning.  We don't have as many regular trees here; Central Oregon has a lot of evergreens.

Monday, October 16, 2006, 5:50am
We awoke to rain this morning.  I am thrilled; we need it so badly.  Mark said it sprinkled most of the day yesterday and on his drive back from Breitenbush.  I need to take a morning walk but will do it after it gets a little lighter outside.  I hadn't realized how late the sun is rising these days.

I have a busy day.  Need to get all my CWC activities finished up on the computer so I can take the November invitation to be copied today.  Talked to Esther last night.  We agreed to pay a little more for the food this month so we could have a plated meal rather than a buffet.  They decided on lasagna.  I hope the ladies like that.  So far 53 have made reservations.

Sunday, October 15, 2006, 4:30pm
Mark will be home soon.  I have a roast in the crock pot and vegetables  sautéingin the skillet.  I was given vegetables during my travels so I don't have to make a trip to the grocery store except for eggs.  I'll do that tomorrow when I get the CWC invitations copied.

He called me Wednesday evening that Stanley from Breitenbush Hot Springs had called him asking if he could come some weekend soon.  They had a project on which they could use his help.  He didn't want to just say he'd go this weekend so I'd come home to an empty house.  I told him to go ahead.

I had a lovely week in Washington.  I hope to get my trip diary posted in the next couple of days.  I left Brenda's house in Cosmopolis about 10:45pm, figuring I'd reach Salem about 2:30.  Traffic through Vancouver/Portland was stop and go which ate up my time.  So I decided to spend the night with our friends who live west of Breitenbush.  Had a lovely time there.  Then got up and made it to Breitenbush during the employee breakfast time which enabled me to chat with Mark for a few minutes before he had to go to work.  Then I put my feet in the hot tub for a few minutes before heading for Bend.

I got home about 1:30pm.  It was nice to be able to pull the car in front of Bussie to unload. Normally the little pickup sits there but Mark had it, of course.  I took a nap and luxuriated in the idea of being at home.

Saturday, October 7, 2006, 4:49pm
We're having wonderful fall weather.  Mark is working on the pipes under the sink.  He's wanting to adapt it so we can have water dripping in the winter without having to be using the regular faucet handles which are easy to accidentally turn off when one washes hands.

I've been packing for my trip to Washington State.  I hope I remember everything that I need.  I have the copy of my speech; I guess that's one of the most important things.  Pat assured me that I can wear slacks as long as I dress the outfit up.  I am taking a skirt.  But I wanted to take clothes that I can mix and match rather than having to take dresses.  I dug my black high healed shoes out of the back of the closet.  They have a small platform and a gold flower on them.  So they'll be dressy.  Then I have jewelry to wear.

I talked to Cheryl Freese this afternoon.  She's the one who will be taking over as Chair for the Bend Christian Women's Club.  We talked a little about the agenda for the next meeting.  She's going to have surgery at the end of the month.  Another complication but we can do our best to accomplish the transition.

I'm going to say "talk to you later" at this point.  I'll be offline until next weekend.

Today was my day to do errands.  I had to go to the bank.  Some time back we'd been given some videos, some of which we wanted to donate to Opportunity Foundation of Central Oregon.  I like their thrift store the best of those to which I've been.  I went by Esther's house to drop off the welcome tickets from our last CWC meeting.  I'd forgotten to give them to her at the Planning Team meeting.  We had a nice visit about plans for CWC.  A couple of the ladies had wanted to go talk to the Catering Director; the timing just isn't working out for this month.  So I gave Esther the go-ahead to call and talk about the issues that we are concerned with for October.

I've had some good conversations this week.  A friend I knew at college and then later in Colorado had sent an email about changing his email address; that prompted me to call. I also talked today to a Jewish friend.  We are currently in the autumn time period of the festival days given by God to Moses.

I made a call today to find out what we have to do to fix the license plate problem since we aren't in our home area.  They said they skip the official form as long as I give all the required info and send in the fee.  When they get it, they'll mail us new license plates.  So it isn't too big a deal.  Mark said wait to next week to mail the letter so I'll get back home before they cancel our plates.  There will be a couple of days where our plates will be invalid until the new ones arrive and get put on the car.  I won't plan to be driving the car that week.

I've been organizing my trip route to Washington for next week.  Most of the people with whom I'll be staying weren't home when I called today.  So I'll be having to make some calls this evening.  Did talk to one nice husband who gave me better directions to their house.  They live by a lake so that will be interesting.

Mark called a few minutes ago.  He took my car to the mountain for a test drive as I was concerned about a squeaky, rubbing noise I heard yesterday.  It turned out just to be plastic aging on the steering wheel.  However, he noticed that our front license plate is missing.  So one more thing to take care of.

I went over to the Senior Center for the walking this morning.  Actually, I walked over there, planning to check in and hear their pep talk.  The ladies were excited to see someone.  One said she'd drop me off at home if I'd go with them.  So we walked up the Larkspur Trail to Bear Creek Rd.  Then Jean and I turned around while the two other ladies went on to Pilot Butte.  With talking about Jean's route, we decided she could drop me off at 9th and Wilson which gave me another seven block walk.  I put in almost five miles by the end of the day.

Yesterday I did four loads of laundry over at Pamela's house.  Got to have a brief visit with Pamela and Chris.  He'd been to his therapy.  The cast has been taken off his wrist; he seems to be a quick healer.  He said the therapist "looked" at him when he said he'd gone back to work.  I'm sure he is trying to be careful; fortunately he hurt his left wrist rather than his right.

I had asked Pamela if she had anything she wished to donate for our October CWC Fundraiser auction.  She came up with a beautiful antique oil lamp.  She wasn't sure how old it was but she did tell me how much she paid for it at an antique shop Hopefully the right buyer will come along.  However, although they put opening bids on the items, they are low--so maybe someone will get a deal.
