It's been a great month-plus since
we last wrote. We had our birthdays on August 8 and 19. Thanks for
those of you who sent birthday cards. We certainly don't feel another
year older. We do feel blessed in our ever increasing knowledge of
Jesus and His abundance when following His leading. (John
10:10)
We were able to take a brief trip to
the Oregon coast to visit relatives, Nell Murdough and Maxine
Prindle, who were vacationing in Astoria. That was a pleasure to
spend time with them. In addition we were able to visit long time
friends and supporters, Dennis and Brenda Peterson (above) in
Cosmopolis, WA. The two days we were gone were a time of rejuvenation
for us, being able to share our experiences and discuss God's Word
with people of like minds. There were blackberry bushes everywhere
along the road. We stopped and picked some. The thought that later
came was: “How sweet are the fruits of the Spirit among the
brambles that are this world. If we will just listen to God, he'll
guide us to the best fruits despite all the thorns”.
The
Friendship Bible Connections started on July 18th. Hosted
at our picnic table, the study has had six participants. Who is
Jesus? is a basic study for new believers in Christ. All who attended
have said that the discussions clarified the role of Jesus in our
lives as friend and savior.
Virginia has supported and
participated in several luncheon meetings of Salads on Tour, a
non-denominational outreach led by Marie Grant of Sun River, OR. This
outreach began in 1998 to give ladies of her church
encouragement to keep doing "the work" and not be weary of
well-doing. After the first year, Marie was led to open the activity
to women of all faiths. Monthy meetings are hosted by volunteers at
their homes so as not to be associated with any denomination.
We continue our individual ministries. We've loved making friends and
sharing with those who are seeking the Lord. Picture below of
Virginia and new friend, Edie Henry. We believe that many people come
to know our Jesus through the loving examples of others. Our
commitment in La Pine is through the middle of October. We are
trusting God to let us know if we are to stay in this area or if his
call is elsewhere. Virginia's Journal
will keep you apprised of our plans.

Blessings
from God
We
want to again thank all our friends for prayers for our welfare. We
know that it is not possible for most to give financial contributions
and therefore want to report how some prayers (even those that have
not been uttered) have been answered: Following are some of the
blessings we've received recently.
Meal with friends Darla and Mike Lorbeski from Renton, WA
Free Dinner at a gourmet restaurant for work at the RV Park
A greenhouse owner gave us a bag containing 16 varieties of salad greens.
A fully-certified 30 lb propane tank
Unopened can of tea mix (used to cool us off during the Friendship Bible
Connections.)
Mark has had some odd jobs for extra income (picture below)
Chevy Luv pickup truck for $350.00. It looks well-used but gets good gas
mileage (30+mpg) while Mark drives to work. Picture at right is Mark in
the Luv by Klamath Lake at sunset.
Thank
you, Lord!
Comment
from Mark:
I
have just completed reading an amazing book in progress. It voiced
and responded to some of the issues I have had regarding the church
experience in relation to God. It's not what you'd think it would be
from something entitled So you Don't Want to Go To Church

Melissa
G: Virginia, I am reading your reviews and I am amazed at your
writings and so encouraged myself. Thank you for sharing so much of
yourself. I see myself in you. I love reading the scriptures and your
stories with them. The Lord is showing me how much I need to abide in
scripture and Him. I will be praying for your ministry.

D: Mark, I never knew you had a little lumberjack in you; you
look pretty comfortable with that chainsaw (prior
issue of newsletter).
The ministry you're doing sounds a lot like what was prophesied about
in IAG our second year; that you would meet and minister to many
people, leaving a trail
of love as you travel. I'm glad to hear God is using you to minister
to people who may not normally attend church.
